Panorama of the European Film Geared for Comeback

It's the event that every film buff in this country awaits with fervour, and now it's back for its seventh instalment: the Panorama of the European Film, slated to be held at Zawya Downtown and Cinema Galaxy in Manial from November 19 to 29.

In keeping with staying true to a theme every year, the seventh edition of the Panorama will focus on Swiss documentary cinema. This year, along with Stephanie Sicard, who has been curating the festival since 2009, a new section called Carte Blanche will feature on this year's edition, curated by cinematic heavyweights Yosry Nasrallah, Nadine Khan and Ahmad Abdallah.

The festival will also focus on acclaimed German director Wim Wenders, featuring a retrospective of his work. As always, the festival will feature Q&A sessions and roundtable discussions with different directors, giving film lovers a chance to go one on one with some of their favourite directors.

This year is also the first time that Misr International Films, the brains behind the festival, will be screening on their own screen at Zawya, which just announced that it has renewed its lease at Cinema Odeon for another year.

The program has not yet been released, but if previous Panoramas are anything to go by, film lovers will not be disappointed.
