The 10th Edition of Cairo’s International Animation Forum Kicks Off Today

This year’s CIAF will feature some of the most talented animation artists from around Egypt, the region, and the world, as well as facilitate the exchange between animators and distribution companies.

Initiating an open space to spotlight the importance of the art of animation in modern day Egypt, the tenth edition of Cairo’s International Animation Forum (CIAF), which starts today and runs until the 23rd of February.

In the opening of the forum, an awards ceremony for this year’s winning submissions took place early this morning. The competition categories include best idea, best design, best music, best scenario, best animation, best scenography, and Oscars of the forum. According to Albawaba News, a EGP 50,000 grant will also be awarded to one of the competitors to support future art and animation experiments. 

More than 90 animated films were submitted to the Talaat Harb Cultural Centre from various local and international institutions and universities, including submissions from European and Arab countries. CIAF will be held at the Talaat Harb Cultural Centre. Film screenings, small competitions, as well as an animated films market will take place over the course of the forum, which aim to facilitate the exchange between animation artists and producers.

CIAF is organised by the Cultural Development Fund and the Egyptian Animation Society.
