The women's investment network partnered with the Haute Couture designer to inspire young women to become regional leaders and aim high.

Womena, the Emirati investment platform that has been making waves in the region with their strong focus on women’s startups, has just partnered with Haute Couture designer Elie Saab to launch #GirlOfNow, an initiative to encourage those who have built successful careers to inspire generations of young women to take on challenges and become the leaders of tomorrow.

“Women are the real game-changers in this region, and yet we rarely see them in the spotlight. We need to be more outspoken about our accomplishments because when we are, it’s contagious,” said Womena’s founder, Elissa Freiha at a high tea launch event, held at Ayyam Gallery in Dubai.

The first of a series to shed light on female achievers of today, the event featured inspirational speakers Muna Al Gurg, Retail Director of Essa Saleh Al Gurg Group and philanthropist; and tech entrepreneur and founder of Stutter UAE Farah Al Qaissieh, all sharing their own experiences in entrepreneurship, investment, leadership and breaking stereotypes.

The network, launched two years ago, has recently started several other initiatives, such as the Young Investors Programme with the female Finance Club at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed University, aiming at getting more young Emirati women interested in venture finance.
