Egypt Moves To Ban Porn...Again

Egypt’s Administrative Court ordered Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb to enforce measures to ban porn websites inside the country. We imagine Pornhub will crash tonight.

Masturbators across the nation have reason to feel limp as Egypt’s Administrative Court ordered Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb on Wednesday to enforce measures to ban porn websites inside the country.

According to Ahram Online, lawyer Nezar Gharib brought up the case and focused on the idea that porn sites cause ‘immorality’ to spread among Egypt’s youth. This is not the first time such a ban has been proposed, as in May of 2009 a court ordered a variety of ministers including the PM and Interior minister to ban pornographic websites in the country.

At the time no action was taken, leading the state’s top prosecutor in November 2012 to reiterate the call of banning porn, which he believes is ‘inconsistent’ with Egyptian values. Once again no action was taken, and in 2013 lawyer Ibrahim El-Salamony filed and won a separate case arguing that porn sites help young men who are sexually frustrated and can’t afford to get married.

Every ruling that has been made on the issue was touted to be enforced immediately but was never applied. It is unclear which of these rulings will be enforced, and as always, any decision that has been made can be reversed upon appeal.

We wouldn't say it is time to panic quite yet, as this threat has been made and ordered before, but either way we know what we are doing tonight.
