Egypt Receives Two Fast Missile Navy Vessels from U.S

The US embassy in Cairo said Monday that the United States has delivered two navy vessels to Egypt, doubling Cairo’s total fleet of Fast Missile Crafts - we now have a grand total of four of these. The vessels had arrived in the Egyptian port city of Alexandria on June 17 aboard a U.S. transport ship.

According to the US embassy the Fast Missile Crafts have been sent to support, “maritime and regional security which includes protecting vital waterways such as the Suez Canal and the Red Sea,” said Major General Charles Hooper, the embassy’s Senior Defense Official in Cairo.

Though it seems US and Egypt relations were on a rocky path, Egypt remains Washington’s closest security ally in the region.
