Egyptian prosecution authorities in Monufia released a police captain accused of shooting a tuktuk driver in the face with live ammunition on bail earlier today, according to local media reports.
The incident took place on Tuesday after the tuktuk driver refused to pull over at a police checkpoint in Monufia, and instead sped off. The tuktuk driver was urgently transferred to the hospital in critical condition after the shot hit him right under his left eye, El Watan reports.
The accused was promptly taken into police custody and referred to prosecution for investigation, and the bail for release was set at 5000 EGP, pending further investigation.
