Fayoum Schoolgirl Dies Removing Bomb, Saves Her Classmates
Tragedy has struck the Upper Egypt governorate as a 10-year old girl was killed when she took a foreign object from outside her school home, not knowing it was indeed an explosive device.
A 10-year old school girl was tragically killed in an explosion after discovering a bomb at her school and attempting to take it home.
The incident occurred on Wednesday in the governorate of Fayoum, when fourth grader, Menna Sayed, stumbled upon a ‘curious object’ placed outside her school that she decided to take home. Unbeknownst to Sayed the object she was carrying was a bomb, which according to statements made by her father, detonated in her hands near her home.
Although she died the young, Sayed should be laid to rest as a hero, as the removal of the bomb from school premises, may have in fact saved the lives of many of her young colleagues.
Bombings have become increasingly more prevalent with a majority of the bombs planted targeting security officials, However this bomb is the just latest in a string of recent attacks that seem to have shifted their focus from targeting security officials to terrorising civilians.
