The 25th Cairo International Festival for Contemporary and Experimental Theatre is Now in Session

Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem has launched on Monday the 25th edition of the Cairo International Festival for Contemporary and Experimental Theatre at the Cairo Opera House’s grand theatre.

The night commenced with a a welcome speech by the president of the festival in which he declared his joy over celebrating the festival’s silver Jubilee.

The opening which, was directed by Khaled Galal and hosted by Jasmine Taha, featured a documentary hailing the silver jubilee of the festival. Two videos from the honourees who could not make it – Dancing expert Jermaine Akogny and playwright Hans Lehmann - were sent.

The minister of culture also made an appearance to officially launch the festival, and was joined by several iconic figures in the Egyptian and international theatre including Egypyt’s Nagy Shaker, actor Ezzat el-Alaily (Egypt), U.S playwright and scenarist David Henry, U.S International Research Centre Manager Gabriel Brandmaster and Italy’s Mummenschanz member Floriana Frassetto (Italy).
