Cairo Jazz Club: 15 Years of Magic

It seems every couple of weeks there's a new club or bar in town promising the world; promising the underground, promising the commercial, promising a new experience or an upside down violinist who does salsa dancing on her breaks accompanied by a tabla drummer dressed as a Navajo chief (or whatever the kids are into these days).

Never in Egypt has a nightlife venue been able to stand the test of time the way Cairo Jazz Club has. Consistently, week in and week out, the CJC machine has done what a venue is supposed to do - entertain. From soul-soothing Jazz nights, to fist pumping House nights, they've had us singing along all night long as the place you know for a fact you can always go back to for a fun time. And through it all they have launched the careers of some of Egypt's biggest musical staples, they've played host to countless birthdays, first kisses, first drinks, first gigs - and proposals. This Cairo monastery of fun-filled firsts recently celebrated its 15 year anniversary, and we celebrated by talking to the patrons and performers to learn about the magic of 15 years of CJC....
