CoverGirl Just Appointed Its First Ever Hijabi Brand Ambassador

It’s official! Muslim American beauty blogger Nura Afia has just joined the ranks of CoverGirl’s brand ambassadors Katy Perry and Sofia Vergara, reports The Denver Post.

Except Afia has the slight advantage of being a Hijabi, which makes her the first veiled woman to represent the cosmetics brand!

Afia, along with Perry, Vergara and James Charles – the brand’s first male ambassador, will be the faces of CoverGirl’s So Lashy! Blast Pro mascara which is designed to amplify all lash types.

To announce the new campaign, CoverGirl took to Instagram, saying that the brand has “always stood for inclusive beauty that supports any and all types — from skin types to lash types.”

Afia boasts an Instagram following of over 300K people and more than 200K subscribers to her YouTube channel. She blogs about beauty, makeup, and offers her army of social media admirers invaluable beauty tips! Her duties as a CoverGirl ambassador include appearing on billboards and commercials for the brand.

The beauty blogger didn't downplay her excitement, telling Glamour, “I never thought I would see Muslim women represented on such a large scale.”
