Egypt Dominating at this Year's International Table Tennis Federation African Championships

Egypt wins two gold medals and counting at the 2018 ITTF African Senior Championships.

Egypt has quite a few wins to celebrate so far at the 2018 African Table Tennis Tournament, killing it at the doubles event which took place in Mauritius last Friday.

Friday witnessed a win of 4 – 0 for duo Dina Meshref and Ahmed Saleh, who were up against Nigerian players Segun Toriola and Olunfuken Oshonaike for the mixed doubles event.

Similarly, Dina Meshref and Yousry Helmy beat DR Congo's Ammadine Litobaka and Nzangani Cyntia while Farah Abdel-Aziz and Reem El-Raky won against Nigeria's Offiong Edem and Janet Effiom.

Youssef Abdel-Aziz and Khalid Assar dominated the semi-final with a 4 – 2 win. Ahmed Saleh and Mohammed El Beiali, who went up against Ivory Coast duo Kanate Ali and Kizito Oba, also came out victorious in the men’s doubles.

Having already won the first gold medal in the women’s team event, Egypt is bringing home a second gold medal following Friday’s win.

Saturday will see the remaining eight players of the championship go head to head in the singles stage.
