Egypt's Tourism Market is 2017's 2nd Fastest Growing in The World

Amid several reports indicating the beginning of recovery for Egypt's tourism sector, the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) recently released a report ranking Egypt's tourism market as the second-fastest growing in the world in 2017, The Telegraph reported on Monday.

Despite a UK and Russian ban on tourism flights to Egypt, which were imposed in 2015, international tourist arrivals to Egyptian airports witnessed a 51 percent hike this year, making Egypt come in at only second place to Palestine's West Bank as fastest growing, which ranked in the first position with a 57.8 percent increase in international tourist arrivals this year.

According to Enterprise, the dramatic hike is attributed to 'low-base-effect', a business term used to describe how small changes from a low initial point could contribute to large percentage of change.

Tunisia snatched the fifth position on the ranking, with arrivals up by 32.5 percent. Occupied Palestine and Israel came 10th on the list with a 25.1 percent increase in international arrivals so far this year.
