Egypt's Men Volleyball Team Qualifies For Rio Olympics

Egyptians have reason to celebrate as our men's volleyball team has officially qualified for this year's Olympics in Rio after last night's hard-fought battle against Tunisia.

Egyptian sports fans have reason to celebrate as Egypt's men’s volleyball team is officially heading to the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics, after an intense nail-biting victory against regional rival Tunisia on Tuesday night.

The crazy back-and-forth qualifier took place in Brazzaville, Congo, with Egypt sneaking by just enough to qualify. Winning the first set 25 - 19, Egyptians took the early advantage only to be levelled by Tunisia taking the second set 25 - 18. The back-and-forth affair would continue with Egypt securing the third set, and Tunisia taking the fourth, setting up an exciting decisive fifth set, with the Pharaohs emerging as the victors in a tight 16 - 14 finish.

This amazing victory only marks the fourth time in history that Egypt's men’s volleyball team has qualified for the Olympics, starting with the Los Angeles (1984), Sydney (2000), and Beijing (2008) games. Sadly, Egypt failed to qualify for the London games in 2012, but seem hungry for redemption, refusing to quit, and giving all Egyptians a reason to watch the biggest sporting event happening this summer.
