Egypt’s Women’s Volleyball Team Just Won Its 7th African Championship and No One Is Talking about It

Egypt's under-20 women's volleyball team won its 7th consecutive African Nations Championship, securing a spot at the U20 World Volleyball Champion in Mexico next July. But we were too busy with AFCON because men and soccer.

While you were wallowing in misery over Egypt's AFCON defeat at the hands of Cameroon, you missed a very important and uplifting piece of news: Egypt's under-20 women's volleyball team has won the 2017 African Nations Championship and qualified for the U20 World Volleyball Championship. 

This is the seventh consecutive time, since 2004, Egypt's under-20 women's volleyball team has snatched the African Nations Championship trophy. 

During the final game of the tournament, Egypt's team faced off with Tunisia and emerged victorious on January 31st. The team will now go on to compete at the 2017 U20 World Volleyball Championship, set to take place from July 7th until the 16th in Mexico.
