Egyptian Entrepreneur Hany Rashwan Makes Forbes' '30 Under 30' List

FinTech startups 'Payout' and 'Ribbon' founder (and Columbia University dropout!) Hany Rashwan has been featured on Forbes' ’30 Under 30’ list, among a host of the world's most brilliant young change-makers!

Our very own Egyptian-born Hany Rashwan has made Forbes' ’30 Under 30’ list in the Enterprise Technology category, among 600 other talented innovators across all categories of the prestigious assortment.

Currently residing in San Francisco, the 26-year-old has built the first Facebook and Twitter ‘buy buttons’ in 2012 with his startup Ribbon. He also founded a second startup called ‘Payout’, which allows moneylenders to receive loan payments online. Payout has moved more than $50 million in loans last year between top online lenders such as LendUp and Prosper. Rashwan dropped out of Columbia University before creating his second startup, which – contrary to popular belief – did not hinder the success of his startups.

Rashwan is not the only Egyptian prowess leaving his mark on the national and international realm of innovation. Last year, Yehia Abugabal, an Egyptian oncologist also made the Forbes '30 under 30' list. There were also 25 Egyptian talents featured on our 25 under 25 list of most impactful and influential entrepreneurs in Egypt.

According to Forbes, all 600 talents who were named are “challenging the conventional wisdom and rewriting the rules for the next generation of entrepreneurs, entertainers, [and] educators."
