Egyptians Dominate the Pages of Vogue Arabia

Brown people are perfectly capable of looking slick and fabulous and setting trends; our sartorial prowess, however, is often overshadowed by our unfortunate circumstances – like the spread of terrorism across the Middle East and North Africa, the economic challenges resulting from plummeting oil prices and political instability, and Fifi Abdo’s newfound social media savviness – so, by all means, let’s talk about fashion!    

Get ready to put your cataclysmic problems on the back burner, MENA region – the digital version of Vogue Arabia was launched yesterday. The Condé Nast online platform will be producing content both in Arabic and English, and their future seems already set for them as brands like Chanel, Dior, Saint Laurent, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry, and are Bulgari already signing up as advertisers! You are going to take a raincheck for the print version, though, as it doesn’t debut until the spring of 2017, according to Luxury Daily.

“Many people have been awaiting this,” says fashion stalwart and Maison Pyramide Co-Founder Maria Sanchez. “I think it shows confidence in the market here in the MENA region, it shows that it is booming with talents and in terms of sales as well.”

The mammoth enterprise will see media group Condé Nast join forces with Dubai-based publisher Nervora, which also publishes Style.com/Arabia.

The announcement has the MENA fashion community buzzing, with world renowned Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab and multitalented Egyptian-Italian philanthropist, model, actress, and filmmaker Elisa Sednaoui effusing about their love for Vogue in a glamorous video.

Maison Pyramide seems to have emerged with the lion’s share, however, as their client Okhtein skyrockets with Vogue Arabia’s Fashion Prize, a contest spanning all fashion categories from accessories to ready-to-wear. The Okhtein duo are now top 10 finalists; in fact, a little bird tells us the talented sisters are currently in Dubai for the last stage of the contest.

Okhtein and Elisa Sednaoui aren't the only Egyptians getting serious love from Vogue Arabia, designer Maram Aboul Enein has also been featured in the publication.
