Grand Egyptian Museum Hosts Its First Children’s Summer Programme

The Grand Egyptian Museum isn’t just the biggest museum dedicated to a single civilisation - it’s also a fun place for kids to learn about all things Egypt! This summer, the museum is hosting all sorts of programmes and workshops that will help them see their ancient culture in a new light, whether it’s uncovering the secrets of how to build a pyramid or how to use robots to be a high-tech Egyptologist.

These programmes will be running throughout July, with reservations available through the Grand Egyptian Museum’s website.


PYRAMIDS ENGINEERING

Experience the wonders of ancient Egyptian engineering through an engaging workshop at the Grand Egyptian Museum, combined with a Children’s Museum tour.

🗓️: Monday, July 17th or Monday, July 24th

⏰: 10 AM - 12 PM

Age Group: 6 - 9 years oldBUILDING CHARIOTS

One of Egypt’s original design inventions, the chariot was invented in Egypt around 1600 BC and was considered the ‘racing car’ of ancient Egypt. This design workshop explores the mechanism and technique behind the historic vehicle.

Age Group: 12 - 16 years old

DISCOVERING ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES VIA ROBOTS

The one-day session is an introduction to robot programming for archaeology. Attendees will also get to attend a tour of the children’s museum.

Age Group: 9 - 12 years oldAROUND THE WORLD

A deep dive into modern and ancient structures across the globe, the ‘Around the World’ workshop is an introduction to the mysteries of engineering.

Age Group: 9 - 13 years oldGAMING IN ANCIENT EGYPT 

While today’s children are occupied by virtual games, this workshop will show them what kind of exciting board games get ancient Egyptians totally obsessed. Pharaoh’s Gambit when?

Age Group: 6 - 12 years oldFUTURE CITY

Through this two-day workshop, participants will learn about the applications of science, engineering and robotics in solving everyday problems.
