House Obsession: CJC Hands It To The Ladies

The women of the city will be taking charge of the beats at Cairo Jazz Club this weekend as the nightspot taps three of the the slickest female spinners on the scene right now to shake things up at their House Obsession night...

David Guetta, Avicii, and Armin van Buuren are some of the names that currently dominate the House music industry. What do these names have in common, besides being House music heavy weights? They all belong to men! But Cairo Jazz Club is saying enough to all the male domination and bringing back their House Obsession nights with a ladies edition. This Friday, the chicks are on the decks and proving that they can do it like the dudes…

The best of the DJanes in this city are meeting up at Cairo Jazz Club to make a crucial point: beats know no gender. On top of that, we can probably all agree that it is vastly more enjoyable to watch the fairer gender bringing down the house than the men that do it on a regular basis. All the House music genres will be effortlessly covered without a single man at the turntables.

Akladios will be kicking off the night with her energetic Deep House tunes. Securing her spot in the Top 20 of the Student DJ competition already gave her Jazz Club experience, and now that the competition is over, the fearless female is back to show everyone who’s boss.

Next in line is Kidmims who also made a name for herself on the scene when she displayed her talent at Student DJ battling the so-called ‘stronger sex’. Since then, she has played at venues all over Cairo, plying the audience with her Tech House tunes. You may think a lady can’t get a crowd to rock out as well as those beefy dudes in tight shirts can, but after Friday you will think again…

Last but not least, the stage will be taken by a veteran in the Egyptian House music scene who has defied gender constraints in a male-dominated business for years; Mayounah. Known to many as the first female Egyptian House producer, she is everything a female DJ in this country will want to be, and on Friday she will teach the competition, male and female, a thing or two about how a party is dominated with her Tech House and Nu Disco sounds.

Ladies or not, this House Obsession night is set to have some special (eye) candy for anyone who is up for some adventures in sound, some musical exploration, and an all-around epic time. Women are proving that there is no discrimination behind the decks, and that they can give House-obsessed audiences what they're craving just as well as the lads can. Whether you want to support girl power or just rock out to the finest House tunes, this event will cover both bases…
