Get your organic eat on and celebrate Egypt's humble date Palm at Fagnoon, with a special event, dedicated to the slow food movement.

The third annual Date Palm Festival is upon us! The annual event run by Slow Food Cairo and Nawaya is set to celebrate the national fruit/tree of Egypt, the humble date palm. It’s a day of tasting, cooking lessons, getting to know local farmers, lectures, games and music. So get your fun hat on and bring your loved ones, and spend a nice day in the sun at the beloved Fagnoon art school.

As eating well and living well is becoming a day-to-day priority, there’s a Pit-Roast-Date Lunch which is a gourmet goat slow roasted and marinated in Date juice for 250 LE - YUMMM - as well as a cooking class for children and adults. Children will be making healthy date crunchies while the adults will learn to make a succulent Date Prosciutto Salad.

Afterwards get your exercise on with making ropes, climbing palm trees, making 3agwa, watching a play about the palm tree and a lot more.

The event is at Fagnoon art center on Saturday, October 10th. For fees activities and more information join the event's Facebook page here to find out a whole lot more.
