Abandoned One-Year-Old Baby Gets Free Medical Treatment At Magdi Yacoub Hospital

The list of incredible feats done by the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation in Aswan got a new addition this week, after beginning free treatment of a one-year old girl who was found abandoned under a hospital bed.

According to Egyptian Streets, the Mahalla hospital staff members stumbled upon the little girl, whose name was identified as Rahma, and also discovered a letter written by her father in which he explained how he could not financially afford to give her the healthcare she needed for a life-threatening heart condition. He also disclosed how Rahma’s mother had died from cancer, and that he did not wish the same fate upon his ill child.

Thanks to the power of social media, Rahma’s story found its way to Ghada Waly, the Egyptian Minister of Social Solidarity, who ordered her immediate treatment at the Aswan Heart Centre, according to the same news source.

Rahma reached the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation centre on Monday, and has begun treatment for her illness this week.
