Rare Bird May Go Extinct Because of ISIS

It seems upon capturing another city in Syria, ISIS holds the fate of the last birds of its kind in their hands.

Well it seems like another beautiful creature that has been in existence way longer than our human selves is on the brink of extinction due to our errors, specifically the unbridled activities of extremist group, ISIS who have taken over the ancient city of Palmyra in Syria - home to four of the handful of rare Northern Bald Ibis known to man. Among the people and buildings captured are three of these birds which were abandoned when their guards left the city.

The Northern Bald Ibis was thought to be extinct but in 2002 a tiny breeding colony was found near Palmyra. Now ISIS has captured three of the four birds and their status and fate is unknown. Officials have offered a reward of $1,000 for information about the whereabouts of a fourth bird.
