Sadat Metro Station Closed
After reopening only a couple of weeks ago, Sadat’s station shuts down again today.
A few weeks ago, many Cairo commuters rejoiced as it was announced that Sadat metro station was reopen after nearly two years of closure. The downtown Cairo station resumed action mid-June to the relief of 3.5 million daily Metro passangers. However, yesterday the Ministry of Transportation announced it will be closed again today, June 30th.
'Only the Minister knows the reasons behind shutting down Sadat station,' one source from the Metro Company said.
Given that Sadat is a vital station as it connects two lines, this shutdown is probably for safety and security measures after yesterday’s attacks which saw Egypt's Prosecutor General targeted and killed by a bomb blast in east Cairo. incident and the celebration of the 30th of June revolution.
