After a kickass second edition of their Techne Summit last year, the Alexandrian team is boosting the entrepreneurial ecosystem again, from Upper Egypt to the Nile Delta.

After a successful second edition of their Techne Summit in Alexandria last year, Techne is now taking it upon itself to inspire and empower entrepreneurs from all corners of Egypt through its Techne Drifts, an all-year-round series of one-day events across different cities in Egypt, from Aswan to Port Said.

Aiming to grow the startup ecosystem not only in Cairo and Alexandria but also across smaller cities like Sohag, Zagazig, and Tanta, the organisation is setting up a roadshow that will kick off on February 14th and travelling across different governorates in Egypt. “I feel that there are a lot of untapped resources and valuable talents around Egypt that are worth exploring,” says Techne’s co-founder Tarek El Kady. “I believe there are also challenges that can be turned into opportunities; what these young people need is to be connected to the right resources in order to start and grow,” he adds.

The first drift will take over Upper Egypt, hitting Assiut on February 14th, Sohag on February 15th and Aswan on February 17th.  Through workshops and mentorship sessions, each event will provide entrepreneurs with resources such as funding, know-how, tools, and exposure, while inspiring women to set up businesses, develop partnerships, and engage with the ecosystem.

The second drift will take over the Nile Delta region, starting off on February 28th. The team will be presenting their roadshow in Mansoura on February 28th, Zagazig on March 1st, and Tanta on March 2nd. The last of this first series is focused on the Suez Canal area, kick-starting on March 15th in Suez, and concluding on Port Said on the 17th.
