Tomb Dating Back to the Second Dynasty Unearthed in Saqqara

The joint Egyptian-Japanese archaeological mission in Saqqara has unearthed a rock tomb, architectural elements, burials, and artifacts spanning different historical eras. The tomb's architectural design and pottery suggest it dates back to the Second Dynasty.

Amongst the findings are human remains with a coloured mask, burials from the Late Period and Ptolemaic era and a poorly preserved coffin containing an intact alabaster vase. The mission also discovered terracotta statues of Isis, a mask with remnants, faience amulets, hieroglyphic inscriptions, pottery tools and more.
