Uber Wants Your Cold Hard Cash

If you open your Uber app today you might see a pretty significant new detail in the payment options. Uber Cairo announced today that it would begin accepting cash as a payment method, signaling another nail driven into coffin of the cab industry.

 

Cairo is the 7th city out of the almost 350 in which Uber operates to offer users the chance to pay cash. Uber says the feature is still an “experiment” and Cairo was selected as an “ideal environment” since we have a relatively low amount of credit and debit card penetration. 

 

The feature is still being rolled out and not all users will see the new payment option immediately. Uber is also encouraging user feedback to make this a successful test.
