Video: Watch Shoe-Wielding Egyptian Lawyer Beat up an Australian Imam on Live TV

Egyptian lawyer chooses to use his shoe instead of his words and beats up an Australian imam on live TV for believing wearing a headscarf is not a religious duty.

Once again you can expect the unexpected no matter what Egyptian television show you are watching, as a video emerges of an all-out brawl between an Australian mufti and shoe-wielding Egyptian lawyer.

The embarrassing episode occurred during the live airing of Sa7 el Noum over a dispute over whether it was a religious duty to wear a headscarf. In the opinion of the Sydney-based imam Mostafa Rashid, the wearing of a headscarf is a cultural tradition and not a religious duty. Strongly disagreeing with this assessment was Egyptian lawyer Nabih al-Wahsh who, after an exchange of personal insults, decided to let his shoe do the rest of the talking.

Upon attacking the Australian imam with his shoe, members of the production team sprinted on the stage to separate both men as the host, Mohammed al-Ghaiti, remained dumbfounded at what was occurring.

Shortly thereafter, the presenter replayed the footage and apologised for his guests’ behaviour saying, “I never expected that something like this could happen on air.” According to the host, a member of the production team was injured and a pane of glass was broken during the fight.
