W Hotel and Residences Bringing Boutique Living To Sharm El Sheikh

What do New York, London, Barcelona, Montreal, and the Maldives have in common? They are all cities that are home to the ultra luxurious boutique W Hotels & Resorts. Launching in 1998, this relatively new boutique hotel chain, owned by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, has quickly expanded to over 50 hotels in 24 countries, and are now planning to add the popular tourist diving resort city of Sharm El Sheikh to its ever growing portfolio.

Hoping to become operational by 2020, W, one of the world’s fastest growing luxury boutique hotel chains, have announced that they plan to build W Sharm El Sheikh and The Residences at W Sharm El Sheikh on Nabq Bay. Considered one of the finest diving spots in the world, and located only twenty minutes away from Sharm El Sheikh International Airport, the hotel is slated to overlook the Straits of Tiran, at the mouth of the Gulf of Aqaba.

Currently there are only a few details about the scope of the project. The alleged plan is to equip the hotel with 350 rooms and suites, including two of their signature WOW Suites. Aside from the hotel, W they will also be opening The Residences at W Sharm El Sheikh, which will contain 50 branded suites with an exclusive lounge and access to all facilities and services for their residences.

Other details revealed about their construction plans include; building an 1880sqm modern meeting and event space, a massive room for celebrations, 6 smaller meeting studios, a 24-hour business centre, and all-day dining venue, two specialty restaurants, a destination bar and W Lounge, a spa, state of the art fitness centre, outdoor pool with deck and bar.

The announcement comes as encouraging sign that hotel developers believe that tourism will return to Egypt in the near future. With Sharm El Sheikh already a popular destination, where the biggest hotel chains are in constant competition, and with boutique hotel trending globally, it’s exciting to hear this world renowned residence will be adding new flavour to Sharm el Sheikh even if it’s still five years away.
