Nine & Beyond: Maternity Wear Made Stylish

It seems like the city is suddenly overrun with yummy mummies. Women are making pregnancy look like a piece of cake and showing that maternity fashion is no longer relegated to oversized muumuus; baring your bump is the new black. In fact, baring it all is the new black, just take a look at the endless celebs that have stripped down while pregnant, but we digress. But it’s not always easy to style your bump if you still want to look like a fashion darling who neither stole her husband’s giant shirt nor tried to fit in her pre-pregnancy clothes. In comes Nine & Beyond, a new boutique in Cairo created specifically to cater to mums and mum-to-be, ensuring they don’t have to sacrifice style as they grow a human.

“In the Egyptian market, we couldn’t find something that was fashionable and fun and designed to fit throughout pregnancy and beyond, and that’s why we decided to launch Nine & Beyond,” says Sarah Toulan, the founder and Creative Director of the brand. “When designing our collection, we had the baby bump and post pregnancy body in mind. Knowing how to work with body changes, we designed outfits that adapt and flatter the changing body during and after pregnancy.” The collections emphasises a cross between comfort and classic chic, ensuring that each piece is as easy to wear as it is flattering. Airy blouses, floaty dresses with whimsical patterns, flower print kimono-style cardigans, structured shirt dresses, endless empire waist pieces, you name it. Their SS15 collection reflects summer and effortless style and quite frankly, we’d wear it even if we weren’t pregnant because their forgiving shapes really just make them winners for all women.
