Sharine Atif
Sharine Atif is an Egyptian-American filmmaker who grew up in both Cairo and New York City. A California Institute of the Arts 2017 Alumnus with an MFA in Film Directing. As an indie filmmaker, Sharine experiments with different strategies and devices to learn how best to create change through cinema, by using confrontation, humor, subtlety, tenderness, or aggression, with the aim to empower women in her native Egypt. Sharine has screened her short film 'His Cucumber' from the 'A Way Out Video Series' featuring Egyptian women who tell their stories of defiance, at the UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York City in 2017.
