Today, the interim cabinet announced that the biased news channel will be banned from Egypt's airwaves.
Apparently, Egyptian authorities have banned Al Jazeera Mubasher Misr from the country. The minister of investment, telecommuication and information, after being asked by the interim cabinet, issued a statement on Thursday stating that the Qatari channel has no legal permits or permissions to work in the country.
The statement accused the unlicensed channel of spreading lies and rumours that have sparked violence which has damaged Egyptian national security. Al Jazeera Misr office in Cairo has been heavily biased in favour of pro-Morsi protestors and the Muslim Brotherhood, and has been closed since July 3rd,the day Morsi was removed. It is currently broadcasting from Qatar, a stark critic of the coup.
