Tired of taking the bus to go on vacation? The Ministry of Aviation just granted permission to several airlines to provide cheap flights within Egypt.
Egyptians can now rejoice because the Civil Aviation Ministry is making cheap local flights a reality for all. According to Al-Masry Al Youm, the Ministry has granted permission for several local airlines to provide cheap flights between Egyptian cities in the run-up to Eid al-Fitr which means that we’ll be heading to our favourite vacation spots, Hurghada, Aswan, and Sharm El Sheikh, quicker and cheaper than ever this year.
The Ministry’s statement has urged the airlines to start operating these flights before the end of Ramadan and the arrival of Eid al-Fitr which falls on July 6th this year, a move which is quite practical considering that’s a time where Egyptians are most susceptible to travelling and celebrating the religious holiday outside of Cairo and Alexandria.
The decision is also seen as an opportunity to boost local and international tourism, especially in increasing the numbers of visitors in the Red Sea governorate considering how badly the tourism sector in Egypt has been hit due to terrorism attacks, political instabilities, and plane crashes such as of the Russian passenger plane and EgyptAir’s MS804. One airline in particular, Nile Air, has even gone as far as advertising touristic and archeological sites in the planes to boost tourism even more.
Starting at 400LE, Nile Air has already announced that their daily regular Cairo-Sharml el-Sheikh flights will start on June 30th while the Cairo-Hurghada ones will run starting July 1 according to according to what Ahmed Ali, Chief Executive of Nile Air told Al Masry Al Youm.
Two more domestic flight airlines, the ministry-owned Smart Aviation, and AlMasria Universal Airlines, have just been licensed by the Civil Aviation Ministry.
