Arabian Business release their list of the most powerful Arab women, but we can't help but feel they've made one very influential omission.
Women are awesome, granted. They are the sexy life and soul of our mechanic planet but we find these top women/top men lists a bit sexist, a bit counter-intuitive and just generally furthering gender segregation. Even further seperating all of us from feeling some of that unity are regional lists, so in that vein; here is a list whose premise annoys us but is news nonetheless - THE WORLD'S TOP MOST POWERFUL ARAB WOMEN according to ArabianBusiness.com. Yay, Arab women on top, making their way in the world today, with everything they got... not getting virginity tested, or cooking molekheya but making the money! All the Arab women in the house say aywwaaa.
Topping the list is Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi; Minister of International Cooperation and Development UAE followed by Haifa El Mansour, the Saudi Arabian film director, and Reem Al Hashimy, the public face of Dubai's Expo 2020 win.
Apparently, the most powerful Egyptian woman in the world is not our mama but Mervat Tallawy; head of the National Council for Egyptian Women. Other Egyptian women on the list include judge Tahany El Gabali, singer Yousra and activist Mona El Tahawi.
Abla Fahita, surprisingly, did not make the cut.
