Cairo's drinking water shortage could soon be at an end thanks to pioneering new technology which generates drinking water from air humidity. The system, designed at Lima's Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología, uses advertising billboards to collect humidity from the air before turning it into drinking water for human consumption. The scheme could be ready to tackle Cairo's drinking problem within months. This would be especially beneficial considering that experts believe Egypt could run out of water within a few decades. Smart technology that does useful things for poor people...what will they think of next.
