The arrests come as a part of an attempt to eliminate sexual harassment in Egyptian schools.
According to Egypt Independent, 19 young men were arrested from Alexandrian schools on Wednesday after a raid by security forces, for verbally harassing female students.
The raid was part of various efforts from schools, authorities, and parents, to tackle and eliminate sexual harassment incidents that have been occurring in Egyptian schools for years now.
Major General Sherif Abdel Hamid, head of Alexandria Investigations Department, asserted the need for this type of action in order to eradicate any threats that stand in the way of public morals and traditions, and that the security forces' role has always been protecting citizens from any harm.
Parents were happy with the arrests, and actually call for more action and awareness campaigns in order to ensure safety in schools.
