All Hotels in Egypt Will Be Required to Raise Minimum Internet Speeds

These hotels will also need to meet standard specifications, and install all necessary equipment to facilitate this new mandate.

Say goodbye to lagging YouTube videos and undelivered WhatsApp messages because the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities has just issued a decision that would make all national hotels bring their internet connections up to code. All hotels will be required to raise their minimum internet speed, depending on their classification and star rating.

These hotels will also need to meet standard specifications, and install all necessary equipment to facilitate this new mandate.

The decision follows the government’s contract with national telecommunication service providers - making it pretty set in stone. The move towards higher and more internet speeds should not take more than a month, after the implementation of fiber-optic cables around the country.
