Aswan Establishes Its First Free Addiction Treatment Centre

The free treatment centre includes 60 beds, two outpatient clinics, a playground, and a number of workshops to help recovering patients seek job opportunities and further rehabilitation.

Aswan University has established an addiction treatment and rehabilitation centre at its New Aswan branch, as part of a cooperation between the university and the Fund for Drug Control and the Treatment of Addiction at the Ministry of Social Solidarity.

The centre is the first of its kind in Aswan, providing free medical services for patients from throughout the governorate. The centre includes 60 beds, two outpatient clinics, a playground, and a number of workshops to help recovering patients seek job opportunities as well as psychological, social and professional rehabilitation.

The Ministry of Social Solidarity operates a hotline for people seeking rehabilitation from addiction and drug abuse, which can be contacted at 16023.
