The Ministry of Transportation will soon implement a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system on the Ring Road. The express bus system is meant to ease crowding by offering one direct route that can accommodate a large number of people.
The buses will be completely electric, and will run on isolated tracks on the Ring Road separating them from regular vehicles. Unlike unofficial microbuses, these buses will have a fixed arrival and departure time at designated stations along the Ring Road.
The buses themselves will be manufactured in Volvo’s Sweden factories. While work is currently underway to create the isolated lanes and parking stations along the Ring Road for the BRT buses, the project will only be fully implemented after the development and expansion of the Ring Road, which will expand the number of lanes on each side to eight.
