Egypt has emerged as the most popular destination ahead of the likes of India, Turkey and Indonesia.
With Eid El-Fitr on the horizon, many Arabs across the Middle East are packing their suitcases in preparation for an extended break. For holidaymakers in the UAE, Egypt has ranked as the number one destination for the annual holiday, according to Gulf News, with several online travel platforms revealing that more Emiratis are set to visit Om El Donia than any other place, including Saudi Arabia, India, Turkey, Jordan, Indonesia and Thailand.
With Eid holidays spanning over three days to four days for the private sectors in the UAE and up to a week for the public sector, UAE residents are looking to travel outside of the country and Egypt seems to be one of the top choices, according to travel website Wego's Managing Director for Middle East, North Africa and India, Mamoum Hmedan.
Tourism to Egypt has picked up this year, with the country emerging as a top choice for holidaymakers of all kind, receiving several accolades that have put the focus back on it; Lonely Planet voted Egypt as Best Value Destination, CNN Travel included it in its list of Top Destinations in 2019 and Bloomberg picked it as a top cruise destination.
