In a strange case of life imitating art, Egypt's Spiderman has received the same fate as his fictional namesake, finding himself arrested this weekend.
Not everybody loves a superhero. Our very own Spiderman has had to experience first-hand what poor old Peter Parker had to go through trying to save the city from evil: justice turned against him.
While the Egyptian Spiderman was giving out smiles and gifts in Nasr City on Saturday the police suspected foul play and arrested him.
Egyptian Spiderman and his helpers were taken to Rabaa police station where police officers supposedly told Spidey they did not want to arrest him but that their orders called for action. As the children of the officers on duty are big Spiderman fans, Egyptian Spiderman recalls, they took photos with him instead of giving him the rough treatment. Moments later, Egyptian Spiderman was released to the relief of all of Cairo.
We have got to admit that a man dressed up as a superhero, giving out presents and making people laugh sounds like an ultimate threat to the city's peace. Action was indeed necessary. What does the future hold for Egyptian Spiderman? We can't wait to see what's next.
