Eclectic and electric sounds are heading our way throughout the month of May. Here's a sneak peak at some of the sounds that will be featured at the El Genaina Theatre.
May is coming. As the spring dresses flutter in the air, the dusty sandals get pulled out of the cupboard where they have long been hibernating, and the bottles of water set in the fridge as a weak weapon against the happily-blazing sun, one thing is left in preparation for the long-awaited month: concerts!
And though Cairo is by far one of the liveliest art hubs in the country, sometimes hunting down concerts all over the city might get a little haphazard and all over the place. But just like we’ve been there to guide you through concerts and parties, we shall not disappoint you for May music. So, grab your calendar and a pen because things are about to get pretty exciting as we start getting word about some of the sounds heading our way.
This May, El Genaina Theatre, which in the past has hosted adored Arab artists like Mashrou’ Leila, Ghalia Ben Ali, Yasmin Hamdan and many others, is preparing a wicked schedule for the celebrated month. On the 3rd of May, El Genaina Theatre will be concluding its artist exchange program with Oshtoora music festival and hosting extremely talented somewhat underground musician Mehdi Nassouli.
Given the theatre’s genuine commitment to presenting music from all around the world to Egyptians, we shouldn’t be surprised that Indie music takes up considerable space concerning that.
Also paying a visit to El Genaina theatre this month is none other than unique Shami Electro-Mijwez (Shamstep) band 47SOUL with their energy pumping Electro Dabke tunes, who will be gracing the stage on May 13th with a surely out-of-this-world performance.
But we’re here only giving a sneak peak into El Genaina Theatre May Concert Program as many concerts will be announced soon; so stay tuned!
