LALA by SZ Evokes a Sense of Royal Magnetism with its New Queendom Collection

The new collection is an ode to the Egyptian woman.

Lala Queendom, the latest collection from LALA by SZ, is a newly released line of “symbolic jewelry”, in the words of its creator, Sara Zakzouk. LALA by SZ is a contemporary jewelry, bag, and shoe brand focused on empowering women by offering them pieces that tell a story. According to Zakzouk, the new collection is a physical manifestation of all the characteristics central to femininity. “This is the brand message from our queendom. Lala Queendom connects women to their emotions, grace, strength and sense of royalty,” Zakzouk told CairoScene.

The collection is strongly inspired by Egypt’s historical roots, incorporating vintage coins and mother of pearl, which are quintessential to Arabesque artisanship. In line with the spirit of queendom, it makes perfect sense that Zakzouk seeks inspiration from ancient Egyptian nobility. This inspiration contributes towards our view of what it means to be Egyptian women today. “Our own lives are like wearing a piece of our past, present, and future—our identity,” she explained. Not only that, but the new collection aims to provide a sense of royalty in conjunction with that, hence the name Queendom.”

The collection depicts ancient Egyptian queens on vintage coins and displays pharaonic drawings showcasing the daily activities of our foremothers, which Zakzouk was able to find through a number of coin collectors and antique stores. The new collections are comprised mainly of gold-plated brass, except for a limited edition set of 18k gold earrings.

Zakzouk believes that every woman is gifted with an ability to create unique looks and aims to provide them with products that could bring that out in them. “The whole point of the brand is making women feel beautiful, confident and adventurous as soon as they add our piece to their look,” she said.
