Legendary Actor Omar El Sharif Dies, Age 83

The iconic silver screen star has passed away from a heart attack this afternoon.

The Oscar-nominated Egyptian movie icon, famous for films such as Doctor Zhivago, Funny Girl and Lawrence of Arabia, has just been announced as dead this afternoon.

“He died this afternoon of a heart attack in Cairo,” his agent said. The actor had been in a hospital for patients with Alzheimer’s disease. He leaves behind one son, Tarek Sharif.
