Starting next week you can get postage stamps with late screen legend Faten Hamama's portrait on them. You know, for all those times you have to mail a letter...
In memory of Faten Hamama’s recent passing in January, Egypt’s Postal Authority announced that the cinematic legend will be immortalized on postage stamps, stating that the famed actress’ portrait will be featured on stamps they are currently producing.
The Egyptian screen siren is not the only cinematic icon from the Arab world to be featured on stamps; in the past others from the industry such as Salah Abou Seif, Hassan El-Imam, and Henri Barakat have had stamps bearing their images.
Head of the Postal Authority, Khaled Negm, stated that the new stamps would be available for sale at the main postal office in Attaba starting next week, according to Al-Ahram.
Sure we can’t remember the last time we ever bought a stamp or mailed a letter. What is a letter? But it’s still lovely to know it’s happening.
