This is the latest women-focused addition to the public hospital, following two years of development.
The Qasr El Eyni Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital is establishing two new clinics focusing on women’s health. The first will be the Women’s Cosmetic and Sexual Health Clinic dedicated to treating the negative effects of female genital mutilation. The other will focus on fertility treatments for oncology patients, with a plan put in place to train doctors in laparoscopic surgery through the virtual stimulation unit, one of the most comprehensive units in the university hospital.
According to Dr. Ihab Soliman, Head of the Department of Gynecology, the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital has witnessed significant developments over the last two years with the addition of new services including a new emergency department. New developments also include the creation of a unit to combat violence against women in cooperation with the National Council for Women and the United Nations Population fund. The unit focuses on the medical and psychological treatment of women subjected to violence. Qasr El Eyni’s Reproductive Health Clinic has also been subject to more women-friendly updates including training doctors at the clinic to provide contraceptives at low prices.
