Tragedy has struck the usually quaint area of Zamalek as a young man took his life yesterday by throwing himself off the Cairo Tower.
Suicide floods Egypt's headlines again as news breaks of a young male who jumped off the iconic Cairo Tower. An AUC student, the unnamed victim was only 20-years old.
According to reports from the initial investigation, the man had already suffered from psychological problems. Even though it doesn’t state exactly what problem he had, with today’s modern medicine and therapies it could have maybe been negated.
Our thoughts and prayers go out the young man’s family. Sadly enough Egypt doesn’t have a suicide hotline which has, in many cases, shown to help people if they are going through that stage of deep depression. Not enough is known about suicide rates in Egypt.
