8 Delicious Food Spots You Have To Try At Cairo Bites 2016

The biggest food festival in the city is upon us; brace yourselves for what is going to be a very delicious, fattening, sugar-coma-inducing, and fulfilling ride at the Merryland this weekend!

If there is one thing Egyptians are truly passionate about, it’s eating – especially the delectable array of local cuisines. We can never get enough of food; we live to eat, not the other way around – sad, but true. We can tell how much Cairo Bites loves us by the amount of food festivals they share with us. It's not even just "here's some food, enjoy;" they’ll also have several cooking booths, areas for the children to play, plus a host of music and entertainment. Your little ones will probably be mesmerised by all the pretty colours (if not by all the ice cream and candy), and of course, the kids’ area. With international and local cuisines everywhere, you won’t know where to begin – should we eat frozen yoghurt, burgers, shawerma, or maybe add everything into one tower of a sandwich like Scooby and Shaggy? Okay, that won’t work because everything will fall out of place. We simply cannot wait until the 15th and 16th of April to stuff our faces, especially with these must-eats.

Lychee

Craving a nice cold drink in this hot summery weather is sometimes a challenge because our indecisiveness takes over; do we want orange juice, mango, apple, or all in one? As you can see, the struggle is real. However, once we head to Lychee, our minds are set on their berryland smoothie, which consists of yoghurt, strawberries, banana, and basically any kind of berry that crosses your mind – you should definitely follow our footsteps. All berry errthang! Aside from this heavenly drink, they’ve recently added Greek yoghurt to their menu topped with crunchy granola, sweet blueberries, kiwi, and chia seeds. Yuuuum-aaayyy!

Zino Coffee

Our breakfast often consists a rich freshly baked blueberry muffin from Zino paired with a cup of freshly squeezed orange juice: an impeccable balance of sweet and sour. Just imagine taking that first bite and feeling that nice oven warmth radiating through all its layers – the perfect start to the day. However, our inner fat kid doesn’t allow us to stop there; we also like some of their shakes, especially the caramel shake with a layer of fluffy cloud-like whipped cream. Don't judge our appetite...

Abu Auf

There are several types of nuts and endless ways to use them; whether it’s as an energy-boosting snack or as flavourful additions to culinary platters, we will devour them uncontrollably. We personally love toasting almonds to create a chewy texture and a light salty flavour. NO, we will not share. Go nuts with nuts! See what we did there?

Scoops

Summer is finally hitting our town, and everyone is looking for any way to feel cool and refreshed in this scorching heat. Relax; you don’t have to spray water all over you like those weird commercials on TV and look like a wet dog. There's an easier solution: Scoops. Their gelato has a thick and creamy texture with a sweet and milky flavour that’ll make you feel refreshed and cool in the inside. For something a bit lighter and fruitier, you can get their froyo! Fill up your cup with calories that are totally worth it. We have no shame in eating the game.

Butcher's Burger

Can you handle this? They say you eat with your eyes first, and our eyes said their burgers are mouthwateringly tempting and juicy. We like to call ourselves foodies, but this burger is too big and, in this case, we’ll make an exception and share. Spoiler alert: this burger lived up to its delicious looks when we tried it.

The Fondue Pot

Let’s take a second to thank the Lord above for providing us with Toblerone white chocolate. Yes, you can order white chocolate fondue and pair it with fruits, wafers, and marshmallows! For us, it’s a match made in heaven. You can also have those cute little mini pizzas and top them with anything you want, from olives to turkey. We usually release our inner Joey and order everything on the menu.

Casper and Gambini's

Start your day sunny side up with their eggs Benedict: poached eggs, smoked turkey, and spinach on freshly baked ciabatta bread with Hollandaise sauce, and potato wedges! Tempted yet? Putting breakfast aside, they have cute mini burgers, sushi, and a rage of pastas and soups that’ll please all you food lovers out there. This is how your day should look like: scrumptious breakfast, delicious lunch, and a mouth-watering dinner.

Zeitouna Lebanese Bistro

Who doesn’t love Lebanese food? From hot vine leaves to the perfectly seasoned mixed grill and the freshly cut taboula salad, this Lebanese restaurant will fulfill any cravings your heart desires. We know that vine leaves’ origins are from the Greeks, but we have to admit that the Lebanese do it best. Every time we see that platter of wara2 3enab, it's like we instantly become addicted and constantly crave it, even if it’s right there in front of us – just like Winnie the Pooh and his love for honey. Hashtag guilty pleasures.
