Made famous thanks to its long-running event the ‘Pyramids Half Marathon’ and the ‘Somabay Endurance Festival’, The TriFactory is looking to branch out into Egypt’s historical and heritage sites.
The folks that take Egypt’s runners around the Great Pyramids of Giza annually are now moving to one of its neighbouring - and equally impressive - historical sites at Saqqara!
Set amongst stretches of desert and a maze of funerary mounds and tombs, just 20 minutes from the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Saqqara necropolis will see hundreds of runners wind through it with The TriFactory’s first-ever 5K Saqqara Pyramid Race.
Made famous thanks to its long-running event the ‘Pyramids Half Marathon’ and the ‘Somabay Endurance Festival’, The TriFactory is looking to branch out into Egypt’s myriad historical and heritage sites as part of its ever-expanding ‘Race Through History’ series.
“Saqqara has been getting a lot of attention lately. You may have watched Secrets of the Saqqara Tomb on Netflix,” TriFactory’s founder and CEO, Ayman Hakky, tells CairoScene. “Its recent renovation makes it a perfect destination for all sorts of events. The TriFactory chose it thanks to its proximity to central Cairo, amazing scenery, and its historical importance.”
This event is organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities. The new 5k dash will begin and end at the Saqqara Step Pyramid and will even include a fun 1k Kids Race for children aged five to eight. The historic race will take place on February 25th, 2022. Registration opens next week for runners, walkers, history fanatic and health junkies through their website at https://www.thetrifactory.com/
