From refreshing greenery to herringbone marble flooring, Nadia Salem went for a sophisticated yet fun dining experience with contrasting aesthetics that are supplemented with ethereal lighting.
Located in New Cairo’s north-eastern suburb Madinaty, Ted’s - a gloriously designed open restaurant - is minimally framed by golden highlights. Beit Nadia, a design firm founded by Nadia Salem in 2017, fashioned the restaurant after their identity while teetering here and there to express their design flair. The designers relied on a plethora of features to ensure that every corner is visually intriguing, from refreshing greenery to herringbone marble flooring. Beit Nadia went for a sophisticated yet fun dining experience with contrasting aesthetics that are supplemented by ethereal lighting.
“Bearing in mind previous designs done for Ted’s, we had to maintain their identity while subtly expressing our approach,” Salem tells #SceneHome. After immersing herself in interior design in Florence and then London, Salem moved back and began her practice which was quickly followed with furniture design. Here, she thoughtfully selected marble and wood provide familiar warmth as the wall designs and highlights showcase flamboyance.
“We combined contrasting materials and playful elements to light up the walls,” Salem says, pointing at the varying lighting fixtures fitted in and around arches brightening up the walls, while immersing the restaurant’s guests in overlapping yet harmonious aesthetics. With golden finesse, their choices striked a balance between functionality and elegance.
Representing a client’s ethos is a feat this firm has become famous for, while keeping their design language loud and clear and opting for contrasting and neutral palettes when needed. As for the enlightened foliage, they’re there to make sure things don’t get too dim - while looking fantastically pretty, of course.
