Ahead of the fourth edition of CDA, we sit down with some of the big names that make-up this year's juries to find out more about why the annual event has become such a key meeting place.
As the design and creative industries boom across Egypt, one name has been synonymous with championing the rich pool of talent in the country: Cairo Design Award. With the fourth edition set to take place between Thursday 11th and Saturday 13th of November at Downtown Cairo’s Nile Ritz Carlton, CDA has been providing a space for designers from all walks of life to meet and celebrate their crafts, a platform to shine a spotlight on the men and women pushing creativity to new heights and putting Egyptian design on the regional and even global map.
Beyond the glory of awards and acceptance speeches, however, it’s behind the scenes of CDA that the work happens, not least with the juries, who this year are made up of some of the biggest and most influential names in their fields. The likes of Azza Fahmy, Amina Ghali, Amr Helmy, Karim Mekhtigan, Onsi Abou Seif, Tarek Naga, Karim El Haywan, Mohamed Attia and Ebtissam Farid have been recruited to sift through the entries this year a task that has the added effect of maintaining a dialogue between all relevant industries, between all relevant stakeholders, as we found out when we sat down with the jury members.
Stay tuned for more from CDA, with #SceneHome supporting the cause as official media partner and don't forget to check out all the work for yourself by visiting the CDA exhibition throughout the three-days.
