New Festival on the Block, Groove Nest Announces a Two Day Long Electronic Music Event In Cairo

On November 2nd and 3rd, Cairo will witness two days worth of international acts and the finest local talents including Einmusik, Cid Inc, Artbat, Zio and Ouzo.

In the past few years, Cairo parties making up the winter season started dwindling in numbers. A shortage of credible house/techno nights out, and the venues supporting them, left us in a dry spell with only a couple of promoters booking international acts every now and then. We miss the days of an international artist or two playing Cairo every week, and dread the fact that the abundance of venues that we saw for a few years after the revolution is now disappearing.

Newly formed electronic music festival Groove Nest’s first undertaking has all the attributes needed to impress. Their inaugural project is bringing a full two-day festival to a special location in the vicinity of Cairo Airport, called UFO. Taking place between November 2nd and 3rd, the bill features an assortment of international and regional bookings supported by some of our favorite established local acts.
The concept was initially set to take place in Sokhna, but luckily for those stranded in Cairo, the event was relocated to our glorious capital. Headlining Thursday, November 2nd, will be Ukrainian Diynamic duo Artbat, playing Egypt for the very first time. Joining them will be Tunisian powerhouse Haze-M, who recently signed a track to Solomun's Diynamic Records.

Friday November 3rd will see German household name, Einmusika label boss, Einmusik. And making his long awaited return on the same day will be Finnish progressive house savant Cid Inc - whose last visit to Egypt was well over a decade ago. An overwhelming amount of local support will be spread out along the weekend, featuring the likes of Zio, Karim Yousry, Mazen El Messery, Baher, Ouzo, Some Say, Loulii, and many more. The venue - we hear - will be refracting the sun's rays as it rises on the mornings of November 3rd and 4th. In a sneak peak we saw it's 360 panoramic glass ceiling and walls, a fortified bubble - your own personalised Groove Nest.
